Winning an Oscar is just as much about marketing or lobbying the Academy, as it is about making a great movie, says Edward Sylvan of Sycamore Entertainment. He compares chasing an award to a political campaign, complete with highly paid lobbyists and great marketing and advertising. According to Sylvan, an award can translate into higher box office gross and increased DVD sales.
