Sales and Marketing have similar goals. Marketing departments should take cues from the Sales department—goal focused, results oriented, and focused on short term results. Marketing is complex and often long term. Marketing can increase velocity and adoption of new products by being more like Sales. Both departments rely on creation and retention of customers as their goal. Realizing how they are similar can yield best results.
