Marketing has evolved, but billboards have pretty much stayed the same. The technology is there, in the form of Near Field Communication, but NFC requires consumers’ phones to be properly equipped; with the iPhone 5S that equipment might finally arrive. Imagine walking past billboards that sync visuals with the audio already playing in your phone, or signage that dispenses coupons. It’s not science fiction, it’s science fact.
